Meet Dr. Michelle Mitcham

Dr. Michelle A. Mitcham is thrilled to empower teams and individuals with education, training and tools for success in both the workplace and relationships. As CEO of Courageous Conversations, a counseling, coaching and consulting practice, Dr. Mitcham presents on women’s empowerment, leadership, diversity and inclusion, conflict resolution, and mental health wellness, as well as many other topics.
Dr. Mitcham is thrilled to empower women in the community as the President and Publisher of the award-winning Tallahassee Woman Magazine, a magazine for women, by women and about women. Dedicated to mental health wellness, Dr. Mitcham founded the Tallahassee Woman Magazine Foundation, which is focused on women’s empowerment, professional development, education, wellness and mental health.
Dr. Mitcham is an Associate Professor of clinical mental health counseling at Florida A&M, as well as a consultant, facilitator, success coach, Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Mediator, and a psychotherapist, empowering teams, individuals, couples, students and leaders for over 20 years. Dr. Mitcham has extensive experience working in the family court system with court-ordered clients, as a former child custody investigator and parenting coordinator, and provided expert testimony on parental alienation syndrome. Dr. Mitcham has published journal and magazine articles on diversity, multicultural competencies, diversity in the workplace, mental health, high-conflict divorcing co-parents and mindfulness.
Dr. Mitcham executes solution-focused success coaching for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), effective leadership, communication, empowerment, mindfulness, conflict-resolution and collaboration.
Dr. Mitcham is trained in Gottman Method couples counseling, Levels I, II and III. Dr. Mitcham has presented workshops and trainings regionally, nationally and internationally, in many places to include Naples, Italy; Germany, Hawaii, St. Croix, Greece, Montreal, and Jamaica. Dr. Mitcham served on the Tallahassee/Leon County Commission for the Status of Women and Girls (CSWG) for one term. Dr. Mitcham is one of two women who serve on the board of directors for the Tallahassee Synovus bank. Dr. Mitcham is also honored to serve on the United Way of the Big Bend Board of Directors.
